| The Fort Dodge Fire Department was dispatched to the Riverfront Speedway shortly after midnight Saturday to suppress a fire at the speedway grandstand, which officials believe to be arson. According to a fire department official, "someone had set fire to the.... grandstand". The fire was called in by a passerby. The Fort Dodge Police Department and MidAmerican Energy were also on the scene. The Riverfront Speedway is between the Sunkissed Meadows Golf Course and the Kenyon road bridge supports on the southwest side of Fort Dodge. The asphalt track was put in place in 1998 after a group got together and formed the Riverfront Speedway R.C. Club. The grandstand was added later. |
